On the 1.5Dci the filter is under the car, easily accessible and the hoses are a push fit so its nice and easy to swap out, the filter does need to be primed. theres a hatch under the right hand seat, you just squeeze the rubber bulb and can feel when its done as the bulb goes solid.

i had problems with poor acceleration, random power loss particularly going uphill, spluttering, engine light coming on and off, had it checked on diagnostics and it came back with all sorts of problems related to the fuel system injectors, pump, etc etc.

all cured with a new filter.

Thanks for that message/post. I had bought a new filter as part of renewing parts but was thinking it might be a sensor - Ill fit the filter tomorrow and report. Your symptoms describe mine. First time Id seen that hatch under the seat - it was like finding treasure, I gave the rubber bulb a squeeze!

Today I got everything ready for a fuel filter swap as a remedy to my stuttering drop of power on the occasion of putting one’s foot down to accelerate. On motorway and fast speed the engine light comes on, goes off when easing back on throttle, the ESP light comes on which turns off ESP and leaves it off until engine turned off and on again.
Anyway, very easy to change the fuel filter but does need jacking up with axle stands in place. 10mm socket to take the cover off and 10mm to take the clamp off then change it - only problem, I had bought the wrong one so I had to replace the original (which had clean diesel in it). Put it all back together and . . . . . THE PROBLEM IS GONE! . . . It must have been one of the leads to the engine from the filter letting in a bit of air.
I have a motorway very near to me so went through the gears all the way up to 98 (someone got in my way) fully work loaded and it didn’t splutter once.
Could this be the same reason for the same problem on the other threads I’ve read!
I hope this helps someone. Can’t believe I’ve put up with it for a year!
